A Letter from Ray Coon: Freedom & Liberty

This was passed on to me by Ray Coon. It is a letter that he wrote for his friend that was running for Sheriff. I love to share the views of fellow patriotic Americans. That’s what this blog is about. So read this letter and simply ignore the campaign pitch at the end. Outstanding letter Ray! We need more like you.

John Adams, America’s 2nd President once said, “Our Constitution was made only for a moral and religious people. It is wholly inadequate to the government of any other.” With that statement I would like to visit with you for just a little bit on the difference between Freedom & Liberty.

If you were to walk around and ask people why is America great, undoubtedly you will hear people say, “Because in America we are FREE to do what we want.” But are we really FREE to do what we want? If a person is just focused on FREEDOM then they have a very narrow focus. Today if you were to walk around and ask people what the difference is between Freedom & Liberty

I would be willing to bet that very few if any could tell you that there is a difference. Most people today would use those words interchangeably.

If you believe in freedom and think that you are FREE to do whatever you want to do then you also believe that you are free to drink as much alcohol as you want, smoke as much marijuana as you want, you might even believe that you are free to take into your body dangerous drugs as long as you think you are not hurting anyone else. Unfortunately those who have that attitude usually end up as SLAVES to their addictions. In these cases you have a very real possibility of ending up a slave because of your freedom or at least because of your attitude towards freedom. More times than not Freedom can and does lead to slavery and very rarely does Freedom ever lead to true Liberty.

On the other hand, if you believe that you are accountable to a higher power, if you believe that one day you might be judged, then you will have a different view of freedom. You will actually call it Liberty! In order to enjoy Liberty you have to be a moral and/or religious person. A person who always wants to remain free from oppression will always teach and spread Liberty. They understand that Liberty is directly linked to morality. They will not hand their power over to any person or any substance! If you love the Constitution and your Liberty then you need to make sure that you ONLY vote for representatives who are moral and religious. Because, as John Adams said, “Our Constitution is wholly inadequate to the government of any other.” Freedom does not always lead to more Liberty, but Liberty will always lead to more Freedom!

So, let me ask you a question: Does our national and local governments today support and teach Liberty OR Freedom? Where is their focus?

Now that YOU know the difference between Liberty & Freedom you have an obligation, as an American, to now go into your homes, neighborhoods, towns, cities, your outer world, and TEACH the difference between Liberty & Freedom.

Ed Hendershot understands the difference between Liberty & Freedom and he needs your help. You can help maintain Liberty in Canyon County and fight corruption at the same time by WRITING IN Ed Hendershot for Sheriff!

I hope that you will join us today and take the time to go and vote and most importantly WRITE IN Ed Hendershot for Sheriff.

Thank you,

Ray Coon Jr.

  1. Carlos Helms says:

    Great letter.

That’s why I don’t get overly-emotional about “amerikans.” They don’t deserve America…at least not the America as it was founded. They have abused their privileges and squandered their rights. America is a moral cesspool being sucked down with the rest of the world’s debauchery. We just didn’t protect what we were given because we don’t value it. We didn’t tell our kids.

And maybe that’s the point. If the tree of Liberty is watered by the blood of patriots; that tree is a bug-killed, dried up old fire-trap.

And it will burn. One way or another, it will burn.

And maybe – from the ashes…
