If They Come for Your Guns, Do You Have a Responsibility to Fight?

solgunsI feel a tremendous responsibility to write this article though I am a little apprehensive. Thinking about the possibility of rising up against our own government is a frightening thing for many of us. I am not Johnny Rambo and I will be the first to admit that I do not want to die. The reason I feel compelled to write this, however, is simply because I don’t think the average American is equipped with the facts. I feel that a lot of American citizens feel like they have no choice but to surrender their guns if the government comes for them. I blame traditional media sources for this mass brainwash and I carry the responsibility of all small independent bloggers to tell the truth. So my focus today is to lay out your constitutional rights as an American, and let you decide what to do with those rights.

About a month ago I let the “democracy” word slip in a discussion with a fellow blogger. I know better. Americans have been conditioned to use this term. It’s not an accurate term and it never has been a correct term to describe our form of government. The truth is that the United States of America is a constitutional republic. This is similar to a democracy because our representatives are selected by democratic elections, but ultimately our representatives are required to work within the framework of our constitution. In other words, even if 90% of Americans want something that goes against our founding principles, they have no right to call for a violation of constitutional rights.

If you are religious you might choose to think of it this way… Say that members of your congregation decide that mass fornication is a good thing. Do they have the right to change the teachings of your God? The truth is the truth. It doesn’t matter how many people try to stray from it. Did I just compare our founders to God? In a way I did, but please note that I am not trying to insult anyone. For the purpose of the American Government our constitution and founders who wrote it are much like God is to believers. It is the law. It is indisputable.

Our founders did not want a “democracy” for they feared a true democracy was just as dangerous as a monarchy. The founders were highly educated people who were experienced in defending themselves against tyranny. They understood that the constitution could protect the people by limiting the power of anyone to work outside of it much better than a pure system of popularity. A system of checks and balances was set up to help limit corruption of government and also the potential for an “immoral majority” developing within the American People. We have forgotten in this country that we are ultimately ruled by a constitution.

Why is a democracy potentially just as dangerous as a monarchy? Let’s look at something that Benjamin Franklin said because it answers that question more fully and succinctly than I can.

Democracy is two wolves and a lamb voting on what to have for lunch. Liberty is a well-armed lamb contesting the vote. -Benjamin Franklin

Even 230+ years ago our founders were perceptive enough to realize that democracy was a dangerous form of government. How so? Because the citizens of a country can become just as corrupt as any government. We have seen evidence of this throughout history. Ask Native Americans and African-Americans if this population can become corrupt.

I think in 2012 we are seeing evidence of what Franklin was trying to tell us. Just because a majority of people may support certain ideas it does not mean that those ideas are just. In simple terms, just because most Americans love our president and voted for him, it does not mean that he has the power to go against our constitutional rights.

Next I’d like to review the text of the second amendment. It is very clear. This is the law of this land. So when Senator Feinstein or President Obama talk about taking your guns, you need to think about something. Are they honoring their sworn oath to uphold the constitution?

A well regulated Militia, being necessary to the security of a free State, the right of the people to keep and bear Arms, shall not be infringed.

supremeThis is a pretty clear statement. The fact is that it took 232 years for the Supreme Court to even rule on this amendment because it has never been successfully challenged. In 2008 a case of Columbia v. Heller the Supreme Court ruled that a handgun ban in Washington D.C. was unconstitutional. One also has to take this into consideration. The Supreme Court supports your right to own guns. If you want to research this decision further you can start here.

For those who try to debate the spirit of the 2nd amendment, they are truly no different from people who will try to take Biblical quotes out of context to try to support their immoral decisions. The founders were very clear on the intent of the 2nd amendment. Let me share a few quick quotes here:

The strongest reason for people to retain the right to keep and bear arms is, as a last resort, to protect themselves against tyranny in government. -Thomas Jefferson

Firearms stand next in importance to the Constitution itself. They are the American people’s liberty teeth and keystone under independence … From the hour the Pilgrims landed, to the present day, events, occurrences, and tendencies prove that to insure peace, security and happiness, the rifle and pistol are equally indispensable . . . the very atmosphere of firearms everywhere restrains evil interference – they deserve a place of honor with all that is good. -George Washington

The Constitution shall never be construed….to prevent the people of the United States who are peaceable citizens from keeping their own arms. -Samuel Adams

founderspicI could find hundreds of quotes like these. This country was built on the right to bear arms. It was built on the rights of an individual to bear arms, regardless of what his government or neighbor happened to think. This is crystal clear. Ironically the people who voice their opinions against this right have their free speech protected by your guns. Without guns in this country, all other amendments become null and void, simply because “We the People” will lose our power of enforcement.

We need to keep this in mind as our “representatives” try to push gun bans. I don’t care if 99% of people are in support of gun bans (which is far from the case), it is a violation of our constitutional rights, plain and simple.

A constitutional republic protects the rights of the individual even when their ideas are very much  in the minority. If I were the only person in America who believed in the 2nd amendment, I would still be within my rights to call upon it. You would all think I was insane and possibly celebrate if I was gunned down, but in the end I would be the only true American among us.

Our framers were very clear on this. If my government comes to take my guns, they are violating one of my constitutional rights that is covered by the 2nd amendment.

soulonfireIt is not my right, at that point, but my responsibility to respond in the name of liberty. What I am telling you is something that many are trying to soft sell, and many others have tried to avoid putting into print, but I am going to say it. The time for speaking in code is over.

If they come for our guns then it is our constitutional right to put them six feet under. You have the right to kill any representative of this government who tries to tread on your liberty. I am thinking about self-defense and not talking about inciting a revolution. Re-read Jefferson’s quote. He talks about a “last resort.” I am not trying to start a Revolt, I am talking about self-defense. If the day for Revolution comes, when no peaceful options exist, we may have to talk about that as well. None of us wants to think about that, but please understand that a majority can not take away your rights as an American citizen. Only you can choose to give up your rights.

Congress could pass gun ban legislation by a 90%+ margin and it just would not matter. I think some people are very unclear on this. This is the reason we have a Supreme Court, and though I do not doubt that the Supreme Court can also become corrupt, in 2008 they got it right. They supported the constitution. It does not matter what the majority supports because America is not a democracy. A constitutional republic protects the rights of every single citizen, no matter what their “elected servants” say. A majority in America only matters when the constitution is not in play.

I just wrote what every believer in the constitution wants to say, and what every constitutional blogger needs to write. The truth of the matter is that this type of speech is viewed as dangerous and radical or subversive, and it could gain me a world of trouble that I do not want. It is also the truth. To make myself clear I will tell you again. If they come for your guns it is your right to use those guns against them and to kill them. You are protected by our constitution.

Most of the articles I am reading on the subject are trying to give you clues without just coming out and saying it. I understand that because certain things in this country will get you on a list that you don’t want to be on. I may well be on that list. This blog is small and growing so I may not be there yet, but I have dreams. I also have my own list of subversives and anyone who attempts to deny my constitutional rights is on that list.

I am not the “subversive” here, it is the political representatives who are threatening to take away my inalienable rights. If they come to take my guns and I leave a few of them wounded or dead, and I somehow survive, I have zero doubt that I will spend a long time in prison and may face an execution. But I would much rather be a political prisoner than a slave.

If I go down fighting then I was not fighting to harm these human beings. I was simply defending my liberty and yours. It is self-defense and it is what our country was built on. We won our freedom in self-defense. We would not be ruled by a tyrannical government in the 1770’s and we will not be ruled in 2012 by a tyrannical government. There is no difference.

This is a case of right and wrong. As of now the 2nd amendment stands. It has never been repealed. If Feinstein or Barack have a problem with the constitution then they should be removed from office. They are not defending the constitution which they have sworn an oath to protect. It is treasonous to say the least. They would likely say the same about me, but I have the constitution, the founders, and the supreme court on my side. They only have their inflated egos.

I am not writing this to incite people. I am writing this in hopes that somehow I can make a tiny difference. I have no idea how many of my neighbors have the will to defend their constitutional rights. 2%? 20%? I am afraid that 20% is a high number, unfortunately. When push comes to shove many people may give up and submit to being ruled. I believe that our government is banking on this.

What I do know is that this country was founded by people who had balls the size of Texas and Patriotic Americans take shit off of no one, especially our own government. For evidence of that, you might research the Revolutionary War. My question is how many Patriots are left?

I would hope that our officials come to realize that, regardless of our numbers, we still exist because they are calling Patriotic Americans to action. They are making us decide if we want to die free or submit to their rule. I can not tell you where you should stand on that. I do know that it may make the difference between living a life of freedom or slavery.

thinkingYou must start thinking about this because I believe that the day is coming soon and I personally believe it has already been planned. Not all conspiracy theories are hogwash. They may throw down the gauntlet soon and my suggestion is that you prepare yourself to react.

I mean no disrespect to our elected officials but they need to understand that “We the People” will not be disarmed. If they proceed then it is they that are provoking us and we will act accordingly. We are within our rights to do so.

For those who are in support of taking the guns, you need to ask yourself a very important question, and I am not just talking about the politicians, because if you support them, you have chosen your side.

Are you willing to die to take my guns?

IMPORTANT UPDATE From Dean Garrison!!! When this post originally went viral I was trying to answer every single comment and that lasted for almost 48 hours. Then I came to grips with the fact that I am human and I can’t do it. If for no other reason I value my family and I can’t steal time from them to constantly be on the site. I want you all to know that I appreciate your support and good debate whether you agree or disagree. I also want to thank each and every American Patriot who has made the honorable choice to serve their country. Anyone who wants to repost this on their blog or website is also given permission to do so, so long as nothing is changed in the text of the article, and a link is provided back to this site. Again, thank you so much. I am humbled. It’s now 16 days later and this is still the most popular post on our blog. Keep fighting for what is right. We must stand united. -Dean Garrison 1-20-13

I think the more important question is what would be the correct response should they take (what I think is) the more likely steps which are small, incremental moves over a longer period:
Small step: background checks for all ammo
Next small step: ban some ammo and background checks on all the rest
Next small step: ban all ammo
Next step: no need to ban weapons as they are now all just clubs

    • ken farren says:

Feinstein wants to introduce a stricter Brady Ban. Yet no study has shown that the Brady Ban reduced deaths or mass shooting when it existed. People like her point towards the complete confiscation of civilian firearms in the United Kingdom and Australian resulted in their murder rate (per 100,000 population) dropping 11%, but fail to mention the U.S. murder rate dropped 32% even though US citizens bought 70 million more guns, many AR 15s, in same time period. What Brady people also fail to mention is the International Crime Victimization Surveys shows Australia’s combined rate (per 100,000 population) of robbery, sexual assault, and assault with force has more than double that of the USA since Australia’s ban. Feinstien belief that “automatic” weapons caused mass murder makes about as much sense as spoons make you fat. According to The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention childhood obesity has more than tripled in the past 30 years. So rather than blame education, nutrition, and parenting, kids are fat because spoons in 2013 are larger, wider, shiner than they were in 1950.

      • ken farren says:

People like Feinstein ask why civilians need AR style weapons and compare us and these weapons to the patriots and muzzle loaders. A better comparison would be to the Syrians rebels who began to battle for their freedom 24 months ago with no weapons except those they had hoarded for years, because their leaders had ban and confiscated their weapons. The government that had promised to protect them now oppressed them and when they began to protest and beg for freedom their government began to kill them with modern military firearms, cannons and airplanes while they fought back with bolt action WWII rifles until they turn to neighboring terror groups for aid and modern weapons. Just like U.S. citizens will have to turn to street gangs and Mexican Drug Cartels if we give up our AR 15 rifles and high capacity magazine to our government. What happened at Sandy Hook was one of the worst acts perpetrated by an insane monster in the history of our country. But heck your history book for similar atrocities committed by our government on its own citizens. We can’t stop all the crazies like Sandy Hook by banning guns, enacting laws or arming teachers. We can harden the targets, hire more police officers, and help the mentally ill but we can’t stop them all. Just like obesity we’ve got to do a better job of parenting, stop making violence attractive in films and music and most important make GOD the most important thing in our family, our schools and our government. I hope people like Sara Brady, Diana Feinstein don’t believe that as long as civilians don’t own guns, it is an acceptable price to have more people raped, robbed, and assaulted. This hearkens back to the feudal period, when everybody’s life was cheap, except, of course, those in power who had private standing armies to protect them and enable them to prey upon those who were banned from owning weapons. No thanks. You can have mine when you pry them “From my cold dead hands”

          That was awesome!! Well said!!

          • Fellow Citizen says:

Small incremental steps till they stack the Supreme court and then they get all they want. Why aren’t these 2A infringments challenged and overturned? They set precendents.

        • Oswald Bastable says:

Ken…it should also be noted that the 0bama administration fully supports the Syrian uprising, and has been implicated in supplying arms to them by way of Libya. Interesting they fully support the right of citizens to throw off a tyrannical government, when it isn’t them.

        • Gary says:

Very well stated. Love the intensity man!!!

    • Dougo says:

No, people aren’t that stupid. They can see whats coming.

    • Jedothek says:

The point about the ammo ban suggests that we should stockpile rounds now — and also develop plans such as gathering at selected tactically defensible positions when the confiscation seems imminent. I admit I have not taken these steps yet, so call this post a suggestion.

      • Btep says:

I don’t think it will be an ammo ban. Various govt. agencies have bought approximately 1.6 billion rounds of ammunition over the last several months. Creating a shortage is almost as effective (if not more so) than a ban.

Now that’s about the most absurd statement you’ve made to date Jerry, amidst countless absurd statements. 0bama is, by all accounts, 75% Arabic in descent, based on his genealogy.

Ummm. Excuse me but last I saw & heard, Stanley Anne Dunham, Barry’s mother was 100% white, of Jewish decent. How, pray tell could that possibly mean Barry is 3/4 Arabic? It’s my understanding that 50% of him consists of mainly Arabic. He’s supposedly 6.25% Black.

This is what I believe: Barack Obama is the best thing that has ever happened to you and the gun industry. I bet you have never felt so alive, so full of purpose and righteous indignation. So someone plants this idea that Barack Obama is coming after your guns and gun sales skyrocket. I bet the advertisers on wnd.com and insecure white guy gazette are loving the money and the page clicks. You are no less indoctrinated then any of us that have a belief system. I kinda wish I held stock in a gun company.. Need a boost just plant a rumor and have a portion of our country running to stock pile ammo and guns? Whip up some fear, feed into the amygdala and race bait and get everyone whipped into a frenzy. Well played.

                • Oswald Bastable says:

Would you feel the same if they were currently making the same plays towards the 1st Amendment moogie?

                • Oswald Bastable says:

Answer the question moogie. Would you be happy if all the politicians were currently talking of restricting the 1st Amendment, in similar ways to those they are using for the 2nd. It’s a simple question…put on your big boy pants and attempt a cogent answer.

                  • Moogie says:

First off, they would be big girl pants, and they are on. I would be upset I they were coming after the first amendment. All of our rights as afforded by the constitution are not without limits. You cannot go into a crowded place and incite violence or yell ” fire.” Along those lines the 2nd amendment specifically mentions regulation. In fact it’s the only one that does.

                  • Oswald Bastable says:

It does not mention regulation moogie, it mentions “a well regulated militia”. That speaks to the condition of the militia (being all able bodied men) and not the Amendment itself. But it is good you recognize the violation of an Amendment is a violation…there may be hope for you to learn. There are currently more than 20,000 gun laws on the books, far more regulation than any other Amendment. What makes you think a few more will make you safe? Chicago is one of the most 2A regulated cities in the country, yet they had over 500 gun deaths last year…where’s your outrage over that, and what makes you think passing national laws that mirror Chicago’s will make you safe? Britain and Australia have outlawed nearly all guns, their murder, rape and robbery rates have skyrocketed since. So what makes you think regulating the 2nd in similar fashion will make you safe?

                  • Oswald Bastable says:

Additionally, the rights enumerated within the constitution were not afforded us. They are not gifts from a benevolent government, they are inalienable rights granted us by our creator…a recognition that free men and women have rights above and beyond what any government may decide. They are a check on government, not us.

              • Moogie says:

This is seriously Ignorant. Did you dig up his parents graves and get DNA? First off, Arabs can be either Christian or Muslims. Jewish is a religion. There are Jews all over the world of differing ethnicities. His father was a Muslim from Africa. Dunham is a Celtic name. And this is the United States. We have no state language or religion. That is protected by the constitution. There is no requirement that the president be a white guy, or a christian although up until now you’d think there was. Survival, as history and science shows , is determined not by strength , or weapons or the use of violence. It is determined by the ability to adapt. I find it highly unamerican to throw around someone’s religious or ethnic background as some sort of accusation or manner of discrediting them. Non Christians make up 66 percent of the the earths population. Get used to it.

                • Oswald Bastable says:

Can’t follow the discourse, eh moogie? My point was in discrediting a few anti-semites who were attempting to claim the POTUS was part of the massive zionist conspiracy to subjugate the world under lox and bagels, or whatever they believe the zionists will subjugate us to.

Perhaps some good reading and comprehension classes might be to your advantage in the near future. Look into it, will you?

            • Oswald Bastable says:

Additionally, there is no evidence of Jewish decent in Anne Dunham’s ancestors, unless it goes so far back as to be pre-colonial.

      • Oswald Bastable says:

Ummm…how about the brotherhood themselves? Try just a smidgen of research on them and their aims.

      • Dougo says:

Who keeps you in the dark? Do you listen to all that media bullshit? What is your source of bullshit. Common sense and logic is what people are using to make these statements. How about you?

      • Billie Arens says:

For those that do not believe in the conspiracy of the Muslim Brotherhood, you only need look at the evidence. Egypt is a good example and Obama is supporting them. I am sure the People of Europe felt the same way about the Nazis and Hitler. I can’t believe the arguments on the web. This fight is about Freedom and Rights. Good men and women died for these. If you don’t believe? Then leave!

  8. Mocus says:

The kinds of firearms and capacities of clips and magazines that citizens need is a decision that only individual citizens are entitled to make. Any law requiring otherwise would not only be an infringement on the right guaranteed by the 2nd Amendment, it would be another step in making it easier to carry out total firearms confiscation later. It’s also common sense that it’s better to have something and not need it than to need it and not have it. After all, who can say what’s needed to take care of a threatening situation until it’s over?

  9. MarkJ says:

    emily,

    “Next step: ban all ammo”

Actually, emily, an ammo ban (much less a firearms ban) would be inevitably doomed to failure because ammunition can be MANUFACTURED…and relatively simply at that. Let’s assume that Obama issued a royal decree tomorrow effectively closing down all firearms and ammunition manufacturers in this country (except, of course, those that were State-controlled). That would throw thousands of people out of work who, in turn, would just happen to have detailed technical knowledge–and even access to materials and equipment–relating to the design and production of both ammunition and firearms.

I’ll give you three guesses as to what activity the above unemployed folks would engage in, either individually or in groups, to a) make money and to b) meet a booming black market demand. And two of those guesses won’t count. 😉

    Two fun facts:

    1. The British STEN 9mm submachine gun frequently supplied to WW II Resistance movements for use against the Nazis consisted of only 47 (mostly stamped) metal parts.
    2. Despite the best efforts of the Gestapo and the SS, Resistance movements in Europe were able manufacture sizeable numbers of serviceable weapons and ammunition in (literally) underground factories

What this means is that in this countr what’s to stop guys with good old Yankee ingenuity and access to materials and decently-equipped machine shops from cranking out ammo and firearms? Short answer: nothing. If semi-literate Pakistani tribesmen can produce decent copies of AK-47’s, then we can undoubtedly do much better.

And don’t even get me started on the “smuggling angle.” One look at a U.S. map will tell you all you need to know on that. 😉

    • Mountainaires says:

They tried banning alcohol during Prohibition, and all that happened was the Mafia and organized crime soared, along with a huge underground black market. Crime soared and there were murder sprees on the streets. They finally wised up about that one, just like they finally wised up about the “assault weapons ban” that Clinton initiated. “Gun control” is unconstitutional. Period.

  12. Dave Bolin says:

I need to make mention that many people use the words “freedom” and “liberty” interchangeably. They do not have the same meaning! A freedom is an intrinsic right of mankind (the word “freiheit”, the northern European word for the creator-given rights of all free-born persons). A “liberty” is from the Latin, “libertas” and refers to privileges granted by a ruling class to members of a subservient class. Liberties can be revoked; freedoms never can because one is born with them. The right to defense of self (and by extension, the “tribe” or governing association) is a freedom and is what we enshrine in the Declaration and the Constitution. That individual right to defense is the core of the Second Amendment since it combines both personal and social responsibility in one passage. We are not granted the right to bear arms by a ruling class because we are not “subjects” to such a class (at least we aren’t supposed to be!). Because we are “citizens” and co-equal in our political creation (if you believe in the Declaration of Independence), our freedoms are indelible and ineradicable and not subject to compromise unless the entirety of the Constitution is voided. Remember the differences between the words; it is important.

  13. Chad Olson, Former 11B says:

“I am thinking about self-defense and not talking about inciting a revolution. Re-read Jefferson’s quote. He talks about a “last resort.” I am not trying to start a Revolt, I am talking about self-defense. If the day for Revolution comes, when no peaceful options exist, we may have to talk about that as well.” — Let’s talk about our fond brother Jefferson’s quotes a bit more though…
“God forbid we should ever be twenty years without such a rebellion. The people cannot be all, and always, well informed. The part which is wrong will be discontented, in proportion to the importance of the facts they misconceive. If they remain quiet under such misconceptions, it is lethargy, the forerunner of death to the public liberty…. And what country can preserve its liberties, if its rulers are not warned from time to time, that this people preserve the spirit of resistance? Let them take arms. The remedy is to set them right as to the facts, pardon and pacify them. What signify a few lives lost in a century or two? The tree of liberty must be refreshed from time to time, with the blood of patriots and tyrants. It is its natural manure.”
    -Thomas Jefferson
If they try ANYTHING unconstitutional I will take it to ALL politicians who approve of disarming Americans. All the way to the President! And dead they shall all be!!!

Way to blow things out of proportion. Nobody is going to take anyone’s guns away. It will never happen. This country loves its guns more than it loves its people. The government would commit suicide by trying to confiscate weapons from its citizens.

    • Dougo says:

Have you seen or heard of the Obama Administration? They are trying to do just that. What part of disarm, corrupt, destroy don’t you understand?

    • Scott says:

I DEFINITELY hope you’re right…I can only imagine the amount of bloodshed if they try. I believe the first civil war would pale in comparison.

    • Continue to wear your blinders at your own peril. Do not parrot the party line to the rest of us. This administration is determined to take away your rights to own a gun by whatever means they have to go to in order to accomplish that goal. Don’t know how many ways they have to show you that before you open your eyes but welcome to the “New World Order”.

It is thought provoking but he uses no references. Where is he getting his information? As for the brainwashing, does it ever occur to these people that they are being brainwashed and manipulated by the gun manufacturers who are the puppet masters of the NRA? They think everyone else is a sheep and often its hard t o see that you might just be in a different herd? But when this supposed confiscation of guns occurs… It is simply beyond the realm of my comprehension that some if these people are willing to create their own tyranny in the face of one that has not even happened. I think my anger s just dissipated now, now its just sadness that these people grandchildren will learn that in the reaction to a massacre on school children they stood up and claimed no responsibility in its cause but instead shifted blame to everyone else and suggested we require teachers to carry fire arms. I have had a neighbor yell me if ” I want to take away their rights I should leave” well I am prepared to do so if the trajectory the NRA threatens comes to fruition. Will that make you feel victorious? That you made people choose their country because they don’t want their kids living in a police state created by citizens? This does not feel like freedom. For those of us who simply don’t share your interpretation of the 2nd amendment , I want I say that you may be heroes to your tribe but you are not too many Americans. You re frightening. That you would shit on the first amendment by spreading baseless lies about our twice democratically elected president and make someone’s religion an accusation. What kind of freedom is that?

    • Scott says:

and what is YOUR interpretation of the 2nd amendment? What about your interpretation of the Supreme Court’s latest ruling on the matter?

    • Oswald Bastable says:

madre41596…citizens can not create a police state…it is only the police (i.e. the government) who can create a police state. That is, after all, why they are called “The State”.

And it is you who are frightening…that you would crap on the 2nd Amendment by spreading baseless lies about honest citizens whose desire to own arms is that they cherish all the Amendments of the constitution, not just the ones they agree with.

What kind of freedom is it that you offer…a toothless lapdog to powers that use you for their own ends, violating any and all rules and laws they enact with impunity, with you disarmed so that you’ve no choice but to accept their lawlessness masquerading as law.

Be a slave if you wish…perhaps it is what is most comfortable for you. For free men and women, chains we will not abide.

    • Mountainaires says:

Brainwashed by gun manufacturers? What sort of delusional argument is that? Here’s the Constitution: “…the right of the people to keep and bear arms shall not be infringed.” If you can’t comprehend the clarity in that statement, you don’t have a brain at all. The “police state” you fear is the one where only the government has guns; that police state was formerly known as Nazi Germany, Stalin’s Russia, and Mao’s China.

I am a retired Army Infantry Sargeant. I gave an oath also, as did our elected leaders, to support and defend the Constitution of the United States. I have many times, in different web sites and news articles, shout from the roof tops that I absolutely will not give up my right to bear arms!! If anyone comes in an attempt to take my guns, I will defend myself, my family and, if need be, the nation itself. There is no discussing this. And I fully agree with John above. God has been removed from our nation. The hedge of protection has been removed as seen on September 11, 2001. I ask God now, as Abraham did before the destruction of Sodom, that He not destroy the righteous with the wicked. But rather He aid the righteous in this fight and help us to become victorious over our enemies both foreign and domestic and let the United States of America become a refuge for all Christians that seek peace and security from an evil world. Thy will be done. In Jesus name. Amen!!!

    To Madre41956.
You are free to leave. The Constitution of the United States 2nd Ammendment gives us the INALIENABLE RIGHT to keep and bear arms!!! You want to be Obama’s slave that is your choice. I have made mine. I WILL NOT!!! Quite honestly, I feel sorry for you that you are so deceived. It is in gun free zones where crime is the highest. Go and get some honest facts before you go making ignorant statements. Go to the goverment sites and look at the facts. The fact is that it is guns in the hands of free Americans that keep people safe. We watch each other’s backs. And we will continue to do exactly that. And when an evil lunatic comes to take our lives, WE WILL SHOOT HIM!!! Further, I want you to go sell your crap to that Mother and her twin 9 year olds in Georgia that shot a man that broke into their home the same thing and see how far you get. She saved her life and the lives of her daughters and STOPPED an evil man!!! That is what the 2nd Ammendment is all about–Self Defense. Don’t be decieved!!!

    • Scott says:

Amen, Dennis! I’m a retired Air Force MSgt…and I could NOT agree with you more!

  26. huggs says:

If mr. Obama was to get rid of guns lets start with his secret service men for a week or two and see how that works for him.

  27. As a combat military veteran I swore the oath to “defend the Constitution of the United States against all enemies, foreign and domestic.” If the President,Congress, and the Supreme Court illegally undermine that document, they place themselves as domestic enemies. Only an amendment can take away existing rights. The United States Constitution is unusually difficult to amend. As spelled out in Article V, the Constitution can be amended in one of two ways. First, amendment can take place by a vote of two-thirds of both the House of Representatives and the Senate followed by a ratification of three-fourths of the various state legislatures (ratification by thirty-eight states would be required to ratify an amendment today). This first method of amendment is the only one used to date. Second, the Constitution might be amended by a Convention called for this purpose by two-thirds of the state legislatures, if the Convention’s proposed amendments are later ratified by three-fourths of the state legislatures. Executive orders, congressional measures nor Supreme Court rulings can take our guns (any rights) without this process. In the event they try, we will have had our government overthrown by treasonous enemies of the domestic variety. A movement now to educate our troops that their oath forbids them to allow unconstitutional action against the citizenry and any military orders to do so are illegal is the key to preserve our freedom and put our enemies on notice. Over 75% of active military and veterans opposed Obama and his administration.Gun owners make up 43-55 million households. Almost 30 million are trained veterans. Our enemies really need to think twice about what they want to do! “The good fighters of old first put themselves beyond the possibility of defeat, and then waited for an opportunity of defeating the enemy.” Sun Tzu

They have tried the slow method for 40 years and it isn’t working. Unfortunately I think they are now going to cause confrontations and declare4 martial law, which will lead to revolution. They started during Clinton with Janet Reno, Ruby Ridge and the Branch Dividians. Those mass killings were staged to let the American people know what they were in for if they resisted. Then we got a break. Now they are ready to try again. They have no problem killing us one at a time or in bunches. WE need to start organizing militias again as in 1774. As Ben Franklin said” If we all don’t hang together, we will surely hang separately.”
I know the guns and ammo are out there. One distributor in Ohio has been selling 8 million rounds a week since Obama got elected the first time. Form groups to support each other and protect each other. Don’t let anyone in your group face force alone. This is a Constitutional Republic and no one, not even the govt. can take away a constitutional right unless you let them. The time has come and we must stand and be counted if we want this republic to survive. It won’t be pretty but neither was Valley Forge, WW1, WW2, Korea, Viet Nam, Kuwait, Iraq, or Afghanistan. Too much blood has been spilled to pay for our liberty.
As a veteran, I took an oath to protect my constitution and country from all enemies, foreign and domestic. I take that oath very serious.
The only thing it takes for evil to succeed is for good men to do nothing.

  33. Phil says:

Considering the Supreme Court overstepped their authority in the first place. The job of the US Supreme Court is to rule on the constitutionality of a law, not rule on the constitutionality of the Bill of Rights. The second amendment clearly states that the people have the right to keep and bear arms. And if Obama or any governor of a state try to confiscate legal firearms, they and those who are working for them are breaking the law, they become the criminals. And dozens of executive orders does not override the Constitution, unless your a socialist or communist,a traitor.

  39. Tori Bosley says:

I continue to have the one question… Why do stronger gun laws sound like such a bad idea? The combination of fear and ignorance has taken over the American people and our culture. You even spoke of the media being a attributing factor. I truly do not think anyone is coming for hunting riffles or handguns. I truly think its time for our government to step in and regulate or remove assault weapons. Clearly, a majority our society can not handle being responsible gun owners. This is proven almost daily. So once again, why are stronger laws and regulations such a bad thing?

    • Btep says:

Your numbers don’t add up. Considering the number of gun owners in America versus the number of gun related deaths, I’d say that almost all gun owners are responsible. There are a few nuts out there, but if you think that stricter gun laws are going to take away someone’s will to do harm, then you are sadly mistaken.

    • Roland Schmidt says:

@Tori: And how long will it be before the government decides that “a majority of our society can not handle being responsible” printing press and internet website owners? The 2nd Amendment guarantees all the rest. If YOU cannot be a responsible gun owner, then don’t be a gun owner. MY guns will never be used to commit a crime, unless and until they make owning them a crime!

    • Jim Chandler says:

The military is not allowed to be used against its on citizens. And yes, I will shoot anyone that tries to confiscate my weapons in direct defiance of the constitution. The second amendment isn’t about hunting, it is about the ability of citizens to be able to defend themselves from a corrupt govt. and protect the constitution. Read the bill of rights carefully. Read what Washington, Jefferson, and Madison said about the second amendment and what it is there for. Read the 4th amendment. Without the second amendment, the rest are worthless. Our founding fathers knew this. They understood human weakness and what power does to some people. They tried to cover all the bases and give us a document that protects ALL people. Everywhere that there are no gun restrictions the crime rate is low. The cities with the strictest gun laws have the highest violent crime rates. You are more likely to be shot in Washington D.C. than one of our troops in Afghanistan. The cities with the highest violent crime rates, Chicago, New York, Washington D.C., Phillidelphia, also have the toughest gun laws. Individuals in this country use personal weapons over 3 million times a year to stop and prevent crimes but they never get reported because it doesn’t further the medias anti gun campaign. Just imagine , if guns are taken away, how many of those 3 MILLION instances could have ended in tragedy.

    • Jim Steele says:

For Tori and the rest of the voting cattle

    • You should be asking obama that. Our culture? you got a mouse in your pocket? By majority are you saying over 150 million people are not qualified to own a firearm? The vast majority of gun owners in American are honest, hard working, conscientious, law abiding, citizens with birth certificates, educational records( of some sort ) and a sweet and loving wife that wants to make love at least once a day! (I won’t mention a new bass boat and pickup truck)( or the 40 foot fifth wheeler toy hauler with 5 slides, 4 TV’s and a surround sound music center with out side speakers, 10 kg, quiet as air generator. A king size bed, walk in shower built for two, eehaa.”Oh gosh” sorry!—BTB–, “the government needs to step aside and stand down ( their pretty good at that, “Standing Down”) They should all go back to school or at least to Switzerland , and learn how to run a country.

      • Jason Knight says:

As long as we’re quoting the constitution, the second amendment still calls for a “well regulated” militia. They were only guaranteeing you a single shot musket, in a time where people still regularly hunted for their food, not automatic and semi automatic weapons with a high capacity clips, that could easily make any skill-less idiot a mass murderer. I welcome better regulation for folks like yourself, that run from a mental health and background check and who are so quick to murder because you can’t have your toys. The saddest part is how much of your self esteem and sense of empowerment are wrapped up in your guns. Again, I’ll remember your name, so I can look for you in the news if you’re really brave or crazy enough to fight and surely die for your guns. The best part, is that you’ll be gone or arrested for no reason and prove my point all the more.

        • The saddest thing is having people like you living and breathing the same air we do. You are so totally ignorant I find it really hard not to just start calling you nasty names. You come in here and accuse everyone of being murderers and do not have a clue about what you are talking about Your government, and I say yours because you voted them in, has killed more people just today, than all 4 million NRA members have killed since the founding of the NRA.

You just sit in your house and watch MSNBC. I can only hope with all my heart that you are watching when you see the gangsters walk up your sidewalk and kick your door down. Do you think for one minute that there is a no gun list? Do you really think that they are going to say please when they ask for the gun you don’t have? What they will do is cuff you and your wife and kids, take you to jail until you or your wife or kids confess and tell them where your guns are that you don’t have. I have a feeling you’re gonna be in a Fema Camp for a long time.

Its people like you that are causing the mass murdering. You and your stupid ass government that wants to own the USA. If you really want to see who is guilty of allowing the nuts to shoot up the schools look in the mirror. Its looking back at you and that person you see in the mirror is just as stupid as you are. ” I couldn’t help it” God Bless America !!

          • Jason Knight says:

You really need to scroll up a little bit and see where Jim Steele said he’s all for shooting law enforcement personnel and soldiers, I don’t know how you could’ve missed that, also I quoted the author of this blog. I find it amazingly ironic that you call me ignorant and such and you’re not even acknowledging the things written in this blog and the words of your own supporters just a few paragraphs up.

        • Jim Steele says:

The whole point of the Second Amendment is to preserve the military capacity of the American people – to preserve the ability of the people, who are the militia, to provide for their own security as individuals, as neighborhoods, towns, counties, and states, during any emergency, man-made or natural; to preserve the military capacity of the American people to resist tyranny and violations of their rights by oath breakers within government; and to preserve the military capacity of the people to defend the Constitution against all enemies, both foreign and domestic, including those oath breaking domestic enemies within government. It is not about hunting, and at its core, the Second Amendment is not really even about self-defense against private criminals. It is about self-defense against public criminals – against tyrants, usurpers, and foreign invaders.

        • Jim Steele says:

The Second Amendment is not a grant of right to the people as the people already had the right prior to the creation of the central government. The Second Amendment was a prohibition AGAINST the central government from infringing upon this right. Any law that is contrary to the intent of the Constitution is void and it is the moral responsibility of the people to fight against it. The central government will say it is the law and will try and enforce that law – it does not make them right, it just makes them wrong with a gun.

          • Jason Knight says:

Either way, “stick to your guns” and go kill some folks over regulation, prove you’re really about what you say. Where’s the man of actions and not just words? I look forward to seeing you on the news.

        • Oswald Bastable says:

Jason, Jason, Jason…attempt some research and find a bit of wisdom before posting such dreck. Firstly, the phrase “well regulated” does not mean what you and the rest of the anti-constitutional gun grabbers think. “Well regulated” in that day and age referred to how well equipped and armed the militia was. It spoke to the fact that every member of the militia (all able bodied men, not some government national guard…before you attempt that foolish argument) should avail themselves of the most modern and efficacious equipment they could afford or acquire, the purpose being to have equal or better arms than those they were fighting against. So yes, if the Founding Fathers had written that amendment today, they would have meant fully automatic arms, rocket launchers, grenades, artillery, supersonic jets, aircraft carriers…whatever the common militia member could afford to outfit themselves with.

You do realize, I hope, that in 1776, private citizens were allowed and encouraged to own their own cannon and warships, if they could afford them, do you not? If so, then it is a small step from the cannon and warships of that day, to the modern arms of today, in their minds. In effect, the 2nd has already been severely neutered by our government.

But let’s take your argument and put it into perspective, shall we? Let’s consider the 1st in the same light. Surely the Founders could have never imagined radio, TV, movies and the Internet in their day and age. So obviously, you should not be allowed to own a radio or TV, ever attend a movie, and of course you should never be allowed so dangerous a tool as a private, unmonitored by the government, connection to the Internet…should you? After all, ideas and discourse have been at the heart of every conflict since the dawn of history, and have killed more people than all the full and semi-auto weapons ever built. So certainly, someone as foolish as yourself should not be able to avail yourself of the means to such discourse and propagation of unsavory ideas. That would be down right silly!

I mean, if we’re comparing apples to apples?

    • blab! blab! blab! If anyone is willing to blindly follow orders that clearly threatens to rid us of our God given rights, Constitution or no Constitution, I’m pretty sure they will be willing to follow orders to shoot if you resist. I mean just look around you, how many cops have shot, tasered, beat up people for no better reason than questioning their authority for demanding you do whatever. How many soldiers have committed war crimes? Once a person has decided to follow unconstitutional , illegal orders meant to harm the citizens, they become every patriots enemy.

In the first place the people that you shouldn’t shoot won’t be knocking on or kicking down your front door. They will be at their own homes defending their families from tyrants that want to strip them, you, and me of our rights. The ones who are not at home I hope are forming or joining militias.

If they come for your firearms and are successful, whats next, hammers, pitchforks, baseball bats?
Once they have stripped you of your 2nd amendment rights, what next, 1st amendment rights and eventually all your rights? It has happened before and it looks like its about to happen again. Quit smoking weed , wake up and educate yourself

  42. Ronnie Tillerson says:

What is an “assault weapon”? Civilians generally, don not have “assault weapons”. Military assault weapons are fully automatic. The weapons in question are “assault” styled, semi-automatic rifles and pistols, mere copies of the military weapons. In function they are absolutely no different that hunting rifles and other sporting weapons that may copy military weapons. These facts are what concern 2nd Ammendment advocates. Banning “assault weapons” could be a ruse by the more radical members of congress to ban most if not all semi-automatic rifles and hand guns, using the recent tragedies as an excuse. it is deffinately the first step in crushing the 2nd ammendment. Success at that will be extention allow for the continue and expansion of abuse of power by the government. One only has to go back in history to the 1920’s and ’30’s to the present to see what that has caused world wide.

They do not understand simple English. “Shall not be infringed.” Seems pretty clear and simple to me. No wiggle room. They hate that.

  43. Jim Chandler says:

BOTTOM LINE IS THAT 1/2 OF 1% OF ALL GUNS ARE EVER USED IN A CRIME. SOOO, THIS MEANS THAT 99.5% OF ALL GUN OWNERS ARE VERY RESPONSIBLE AND SHOULD NOT BE PUNISHED FOR WHAT 1/2 % DO.

    • Jason Knight says:

That’s not true at all. Most guns in America are owned by folks that own multiple firearms, that’s some good old pre-housing crisis Bush math you have.

      • Jim Chandler says:

Those are actually FBI statistics. I know, that since you are a liberal, that the truth scares you and you get very insecure when someone messes with your fantasy world. Good little drones like you are what allowed Hitler and Stalin to murder millions of their own people. Try and educate yourself by reading the writings of Jefferson, Washington, and Madison on the reason for the second amendment. They wrote it, YOU don’t get to interpret it. They wrote what it is there for and what it means. It had nothing to do with hunting. Your ignorance is a tribute to the damage the federal govt. has done to our education system. I went to a 4 room school house with 8 grades in it. I actually was educated and we were taught to think critically. I am also a college graduate in Environmental science. It is better to be silent and have people think you are ignorant, than to open your mouth and remove all doubt.

All I will say is what Shakespeare said in Othello which is the ultimate story of paranoia…

“Weigh’st thy words before thou givest them breath, for one those words hath been spoke to take flight there is no inhalation to take to revoke their mark and one must only stand to defend their conviction…”

This is about MILITARY GRADE WEAPONS being sold to the mass market in a way to cover the true buyers of these horrific niche of firearms…OTHER NATIONS!! I AM a gun owner and the MATH ISN’T ADDING UP!! THINK about it! There is a ratio of gun owners which has NOT drastically increased, however there IS a massive spike in these VERY specific weapons with no true idea who the heck is suddenly stocking up a mass of weapons! If SUDDENLY it becomes totally illegal to sell military grade weapons in the United States what would the paper trails of these gun manufactures show? Forget the documentations for gun owners! I bet my bottom dollar that every penny would go to every seedy country we could fathom from the depths of the African war slums, to the drug lords of south america, and the terrorists all over the world. It’s not about AMERICANS it is about MONEY and GUNS EQUALLY money.

    • Oswald Bastable says:

They are not military grade weapons. If they were military grade they would be fully automatic.

As far as “who is buying them” you only need to go to any gun show in your area. No need to go in, just check out the lines going out the door and snaking around the sides of the buildings where they’re being hosted.

Now, if you’d like to attempt the argument that all those people in those lines are from some other country, attempting to buy arms (99% of which are sold by licensed dealers requiring background checks) and somehow smuggle them out of the US and back to their home countries…I can not help you there, as your psychosis has gone beyond that to which common sense can appeal.

It well be more than just a standoff because half the people know better than to give up there guns the other half want them gone (the koolaid drinkers) so anyone that thinks our government well not hurt them when disarmed is a fool and should run and hide when it hits the fan here, we are on the verge of financial collapse,Obama has shut down numerous coal power plants he is attacting the coal industry wants them gone and with them goes 85 percent of our electricity, people with out guns well be caught in the middle, if the government makes all of us out laws then only out laws well be free, so brace yourself ready or not something bad is coming like it or not our country well not be the same after what ever event takes place,a friend of mine has told me that the government is stock piling U N armoured vehicles in Florida, so I am going to research that today to verify if it is true .all I can say is get ready for house to house gun confiscation and road blocks, Marshall law, anarchy, war, all I want is to be free and have the right to own guns and in my country even if it is a ten foot circle I well have and retain that right, and live under the constitution and use the ten commandments as rules to live by everyone else get out or die.

OK so I looked at info online about thousands of white vehicles that know one knows what they are going to be used for stored in bastrop Texas at a federal prison ,fitted with prisoner cages and shackles , some on west coast , some in Florida, some of the trucks and vans have the u.s police force on them,my thoughts on this is they are going to use these vehicles to arrest people that can’t afford to pay the Obama care insurance premiums, and possibly for Americans that don’t want to lay down there arms for the government,it seems like they are stratigicaly place around the country, I also found that the federal government has gave flour Daniels the authorization to design but have not built yet ( a million man person ) here in this country so what do all you think they are going to do with that, I am not liking any of this, why would the feds need all those trucks and vans with cages and shackles in them I see a disaster in the making .check it out for yourselves.

I also have heard that the bank of America has taken a liberal stand on gun dealers refusing them acess to there money because they don’t like what they do,boycott those dumbasses

  50. “Every Communist must grasp the truth; ‘Political power grows out of the barrel of a gun.'” Mao Tse-tung. They want power all to themselves! Anita Dunn, Obama’s communication’s director stated that Mao Tse Tung (a mass murderer responsible for more deaths than Hitler) was one of her favorite political philosophers, one that she turns to the most. And she directly quoted him while giving a speech to an audience of high school students. Obama, Jarrett and Axelrod, All Connected to Communist KGB Agent, Frank Marshall Davis and the Chicago Communist Party USA. Van Jones is an avowed Communist. The number of “sleeper” communists in all levels of our society is unknown. Their workings and damage is evident. The public education system and the propaganda Media is rife with these traitors and this is how they have won over the low-information voters. Those grounds are lost! The roots are too deep. “Sic Semper Tyrannis!”
